Sisterlocks: Seven years and eleven months

The Queen celebrated Juneteenth 2020!

My Sisterlocks Anniversary is now at seven years and eleven months.  I decided to do a little extra makeup in celebration of Juneteenth and Pride month.

The police brutality against George Floyd ( #GeorgeFloyd ) sparked global protests for justice, reform and equality. Other names: Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain . . .  the names go on and on and on.  Murders swept under the rug at the hands of police nationwide. The world began screaming "enough is enough." "No justice No peace!"  There should NOT be two justice systems.

Recognizing Pride month 2020 as a heterosexual female.

Wet Sisterlocks

I'm definitely back on my supplements:  Matcha Green tea, Biotin, Collagen, etc.  My hair is fuller again.  The whole 2020 economy shutdown is definitely going to create some hair loss issues by Holiday time due to stress.  My Herbalife Nutrition website is up and ready for supplement orders at getset.goherbalife.com  Shop 24/7 online and it will ship directly to you.

My Sisterlocks are Around Bra Strap length when dry.

Seven Years Sisterlocks Loc-Versary

It's seven years this month for my Sisterlocks, and I am showcasing seven looks!

The weather sometimes just drop all my curls out leaving it straight.

I have to bantu knot my hair at night to maintain some texture for the next day.

Lady in red.

Yes, I can touch the bottom of my hair.

My hair is long enough to tie in a knot in the crown from the sideburns area.  It gives me a partial updo.

I have been sporting a lot of Ashley Stewart fashions lately.

A fresh wet set service delivers the maximum amount of curls.

How did I do?  I heard "Sisterlocks" are now the local trend.  I guess-I was ahead of the curve. I still self maintain my own locs. Happy Number 7 for me! I will continue to check in once a month.

Sisterlocks Anniversary: Six years five months

Wash day is the beginning of my natural hair cycle just like loose natural hair sistahs!

Boxed up, but not boxed in!

I started a new chapter in my life.  I closed down the hair salon and my hair practice in general.  I love the new products that are on the market.  It was making my job easier and delivering great hair.  I felt like I was on top of my game which is the best time to leave . . .

My next steps are indeed a walk by faith.  I got some goals, but I am trying to make sure that they are lined up with God's goals for me.

Happy New Year 2019!
My Sisterlocks are now six years and five months old.
(Cosmetic makeup is on the backburner with my daily pace. Very minimal)

Sister locks Anniversary: 5 years 6 Months

My Sisterlocks are 5 years and 6 months old this month!

With the ten degree winter weather, my locs required extra moisture. If you felt that bite on your face, then your hair felt it too!  Locked or loose hair -- check for hydration at the hair ends. A hydration spray at night may be enough to prepare the hair for the outdoor temperatures for the following day.

My locs when wet show my full length without shrinkage.
( And no tattoos for me)

Wet Loc Length at 4 years 7 months

It is strange that people are still so obsessed with my Sisterlocks length. I am focused on curls and volume, but I have learned to give people a little more of what they want.

My Sisterlocks are four years and seven months old.  When they are wet, you see their full length. I get a lot of shrinkage when they are dry. I am okay with it. I like using the length to create fullness.

My large (fore)head requires the length to fully frame my face. Night and day difference between bringing my locs toward the front of my face versus hanging in the back. Right? Head shapes do make a difference.

I am still using HerbaLife nutrition to lose weight and maintain healthy long hair.

Sisterlocks Four years and Six Months Anniversary

Almost Four years and six months ago, I started my Sisterlocks journey.  The picture above is DAY two/three after my pipe cleaner set. I usually need about two nights before my roots fluff back up like I like them after a shampoo and set.

And to those followers who have stuck with me on this blog, THANK YOU!!!!

Another late night pipe cleaner set using Design Essentials Twist and Set Natural hair setting lotion.  It comes in a ready to spray bottle.

When my Sisterlocks are wet, they are at least armpit length in the back with my head upright. I usually need a couple of hours of dryer time to get my wet set almost dry.  It's definitely a four hour task. Also, I am on Instagram now. I post about my Herbalife weight loss results.  I am working on a few more beauty related articles. So until next time!

Sisterlocks Check-in: 4 years and 4 months

My Sisterlocks are now 4 years and 4 months old.  A fresh shampoo gives me time to admire my wet loc length.

Still wet Sisterlocks.

Pipe cleaner wet set day one.  I love the volume from the curls. I know how long my locs are stretched out so the shorter, curlier look is fine with me.  Others are constantly wanting to see length.  I want to see volume and curls.  I do what makes me happy.

Day 2 after pipe cleaner wet set allows my roots to volumize/thicken/shrink back up!
Loving it!!!

Soapbox: Sisterlocks at Four years and two months

My Sisterlocks are Wet with conditioner.

My hang time is quite visible when wet.  I had an established Sisterlocks client to come in for her first Sisterlocks consultation. Apparently, she started her loc journey around the same time.  Without her saying that she was comparing loc hangtime, the inflection in her voice let me know that she thought that her length was longer than mine.  In a dry state, her locs probably did look longer, and it seemed to matter to her.  I, on the otherhand, have been on my loc journey on my own, and I need no validation nor to compare.  However, I want to entertain the comparison within this article.

(Dry styled) Sisterlocks at 4 years 2 months.

Reasons why my Sisterlocks may look shorter:
  1. A previous certified Sisterlocks consultant (my third one?) went through ripping my buds off my ends causing me to lose as much as 2+ inches off of some of my Sisterlocks.   You can go back to my archives on this blog to read about this ordeal.
  2. I use the hand interlocking method to tighten my roots; therefore, I never put a lot of tension in my loc framework.  Greater tension keeps the coils unwind, but I prefer for my  coils to be slightly loose within the framework.
  3. I have a long face.  My nape hairline lines up with my nose.  Therefore if the measurements were taken starting from my scalp going to my ends, my length would be more accurately reflected than just focusing on hangtime.

Four Years Sisterlocks Wet Check-in

Oh Yeah, It's my four year Sisterlocks Anniversary!!!!!

I got "long locs" now.  Yay!!

Year 5 is supposed to be magical!  Here's to the new year 2017!!!!

NOTE:  I mixed oil and setting lotion for my wet set.  Stay tuned for my next styling article for year 4 (four)  with self maintenance.  This summer heat is a challenge to keep from sweating my curls out.

Wet Loc Check-in at 3 years 11 months

3 years 11 months old Sisterlocks Wet Length in the back.

My locs fall below the back of the styling chair now. Hooray!!!!  I typically part the back and lay both sides on my shoulder to frame my face.

Wet Loc Check-in at 3 years 9 months

It's my 3 years 9 months Sisterlocks Anniversary.  This is my wet check-in with Carol's Daughter Tui Conditioner left on.  That Tui line of Carol's Daughter left my locs super soft.  Incidentally, I also realized that my wet set did not last as long because my hair was so soft.  It is all good though.

My lighting was horrible for this picture, but as you can see - I am gaining loc length.

I have finally reached the loc length that if I had to, then I could live with this length for the rest of my life.  However, since I am an overachiever, let's see just how much length becomes too much!  I think that I am probably another five years before I say "cut."  And on a separate note, I have seen a lot of faux locs lately. I think they are crochet braided in.  Have you?

The Sisterlocks Wet Check-in at 3 years 8 months

My Sisterlocks are 3 years and 8 months old.  I had someone to ask "is my hair real?" With a big smile, you all know the answer!  Oh yeah! It is real!

The craziest question that I have ever been asked was "do I have hair added every month?"  My response:  No, I just let it grow out the good old fashion way from my scalp!

The second craziest question that I have been asked "how hard is it to undo those when you are ready to startover?"  My response:  I have never tried to undo/unloosen them.

Every month gets better and better.  I have now reached the "promised land."

I can make a nice juicy ponytail now!

My loc length is definitely below my shoulders.

Styling versatility continues to become easier.
