Another Great Hair Movie: Trolls

Princess Poppy from the "Trolls" movie

I saw this Easter Basket in Walmart.  I almost purchased it because I simply loved Princess Poppy from the "Trolls" movie.  She was a happy little thing.  Royalty at its best!!!!

The Trolls movie was a definite "hair movie!"  All different haircolors and lengths were popping and growing everywhere. If you get a chance, I recommend this movie when you want to re-discover
Happy!!!

My 34 months Loc Versary

I went to see the movie Tomorrowland on my 34 month loc-versary.  I love my Tomorrowland pin from Regal Cinemas.  It reminds me that I am a visionary.

Also, on this loc-versary, I had another one of my clients to ask if my locs were all mine - I told her- "yep, nothing has been added."

So when I was sporting my yarn unit a few years ago, I was identified with yarn for hair.

When I had "starter Sisterlocks," I  was identified with "those little things in my hair."

Now, I am identified as having "frizz-free" Sisterlocks.  Even one of the vendors at the Taliah Waajid World Natural Hair Show complimented me for not having frizzy Sisterlocks.  She was actually puzzled as to why she did not see frizz.  All I can say is . . .

It is my hair naturally . . . naturally a phenomenal woman.

Braids: 1963 Cleopatra Flashback

I captured this picture from People magazine dated April 11, 2011 highlighting Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra. The movie was a Fox studio production from 1963. This hairstyle is more than likely a wig, but the side plaits/braids caught my interest. Realistically, I would think that the gold hair jewelry would be too heavy on the hair, but the overall look is distinguished and a nice touch of texture to what would have been straight black hair.

Hair Business

The movie "Good Hair" by Chris Rock was released in D.C. , L.A., and ATL. I am looking forward to watching it in a few weeks if it comes to the Charlotte, NC area.

I attended an Essations class on yesterday, and the educator mentioned how the relaxer process was put into a negative light during the movie. He also mentioned that naturally curly hair was hard to control which was why the relaxer became so popular.

So the natural hair trend for some will end eventually, and the relaxer will be popular again!

On a separate note, hairdressers are seeing a "market correction" in their business. The good stylists are seeing "cutbacks." Mediocre stylists are just totally getting "cut out."

Support your stylist by coming into the salon to be serviced looking like your hair does not even need to be done. That means wrap it/roll it/pin curl it the night before the hair appointment just like you usually do! It just reaffirms the other clients. Your stylist will thank you!
