Subscriber Hair Question About Goddess Locs

Hair Question to me from a subscriber:   Quick hair question, I just got Goddess locs. Can I get them wet?  The shop told me not to get them wet after I sat to get them all installed and paid for.

First of all, there is no such thing as a "quick hair question."

Secondly, What do you mean by "wet?"

• Stuck in the rain?
• Shampooing?
• Swimming?

The real answer:  The $300 Goddess locs braiding styles are typically not human hair. Therefore, trapping wetness inside of the excessively wrapped synthetic fibers is a recipe for "smelly locs."  Therefore, I would listen to the advice of the shop that installed them.  Do not swim in them.  Do not shampoo them.  Do not engage in a lot of water saturation activities while wearing the synthetic goddess locs.  The Human Hair Goddess locs run about $700, and only braiding specialists offer them. There is a specific type of human hair that can be used to make the style more active lifestyle friendly.

Two Years one month Loc Length Check-in

 For those focus on loc length, this photo shoot is with my hair wet.  As it dries, my hair swells and becomes shorter but more volumious.

 I like covering my forehead, but I can not see to service my clients.  So I usually pull it back.

 My wet hair was ruining my cosmetic makeup application. I still have my one lone bottom corner loc taking the lead in length.

I'm below shoulder length in the back even with my head upright.

I am still self- tightening.  So far, I am still learning about my locs i.e. my hair. I am still trying to decide when to condition and when not to condition.  I am still trying to decide on styling and a regimen as it gets longer. I will keep everyone posted when I get it all together.  LOL! 

My SisterLocks: Wet versus Set

 My SisterLocks feel like loose hair when they are wet.  When I get full shoulder length, I may just wash and go, who knows?

For now, I perm rod them and wear it curly.  I had to grab the Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding as my moisturizer.  My locks soaked it right up!

This article is important because I had one "former hairstylist" to ask me if I cut my hair when she saw me in my curly look.  I told her "no."  This particular hairstylist has "Halle Berry" type of hair and her hair never shrinks.  I did not feel like schooling her on my type of hair and how it shrinks.

Anyway, my length is looking good at 3.5 months!

Seamless: The Best combs for Wet hair

The terminology "seamless" has been used to describe everything from hair extensions to undergarments. So now, let us talk hair combs! Pictured are some seamless combs. How do you test to see if a comb is seamless? Take the comb and run the comb down your bare arm taking note if you feel any rough spots or seams that were created in the making of the comb. Also, run your hands up and down all the teeth of the comb to see if any rough spots are present. Also, make sure that all the teeth are rounded on the tips. If it passes the "feel" test, then the comb is considered "seamless" and appropriate to use on wet hair.
