Making of my "Wonder Woman" Look!

June 2017

With the success of the "Wonder Woman" Superhero movie, I wanted to re-create my own "Superwoman" look.  Here's some building blocks for you to recreate the look too!

Black Knight shield (from a party store like "Party City")
AND
Rhinestone headpiece (from Beauty supply store)

I have featured this type of headpiece/headband before on this blog.  I believe that it was during the Holidays.

Cosmetics and Skincare to create the look:
Herbalife Firming Eye Gel
 L'Oreal Anti-Fatigue BB Cream
L'Oreal True Match pressed powder

Believe it or not, I didn't spend much time applying dramatic makeup at all.  Just primers and powders!  In addition to Lighting and use of an Instagram Filter.  I also held my head in a position to eliminate shadows.

Of course, you can order the Herbalife SKIN care product directly from my website by creating a FREE Account first. Start here:   https://getset.goherbalife.com/Catalog/Home/Index/en-US

Loc Styling: The Making of Mardi Gras Masquerade Hair

It was Mardi Gras time again for The Crown Jewels (NC) chapter of the Links, Inc. I decided to wear my locs down this year!  It required advance planning to make my curly locs blend in with my straight hair "sistahs."

I even picked out the perfect jewelry ensemble from my collection of rhinestone head jewelry.  I introduced the concept of Fashion Head jewelry in an article on this blog during the 2015 Holiday season.

I started with a fresh wet set using perm rods for more curl definition about four days prior to the event.  I twisted slices of my locs like the start of Bantu knots and then anchored them with a perm rods.  I used the Design Essentials Masterpiece setting lotion 1:1 mixture.

This Aldo cap became my new "bestie!" I took out all the perm rods and coiled the front top Sisterlocks to stay under my cap while the side and back hung down with minimal to no manipulation for three days up to the hour before the event.  My clients had probably never seen me working in a cap, but I was determined to have curls for my event.

It was the best decision ever!
I was a Goddess!

Fashion head Jewelry for the Holidays

Rhinestone head jewelry using comb attachments

The combs lay relatively flat.

It takes time to align the center of the headpiece in line with one's nose.

But I accomplished it!  A last minute glam up for my locs.

Rihanna's hair for AMA 2013 Icon Award

Photo credit:  www.rap-up.com, Pictured is Bill Maher, Rihanna, and Rihanna's mother (Monica Fenty).

I am loving the rhinestone roller pins anchoring Rihanna's head wrap hairstyling. Some call this hairstyle a "doobie."  Others may reference this hairstyling to the Tuvinian culture who are known for hats and scarves that resemble this "head wrap" styling.

Some people felt Rihanna's hair was incomplete in the head wrap styling.  While others probably see it as a new trend to follow.   We will see!

Congratulations Rihanna on your most recent Icon Award for the American Music Awards 2013.  Your mom's speech was heartfelt and got me a little teary eyed.  Thanks for keeping it real!
