Lining the Relaxer Bowls

 Cleaning out relaxer bowls was a clean-up task that was taking up extra time. So I decided to start lining my relaxer bowls.  So far so good!  I do not have to wash extra chemicals down the drain.  I can just toss the liner in the trash can.

As you may remember from a previous article, I have used disposable cake decorating bags before for other time saving tips.  Well, I purchase the Wilton's 16 inch bags to line the relaxer bowls.

 Wilton has 12" and 16" disposable decorating bags.  I prefer the 16" size. (Large)

You can puncture the bag to get the bowl handle through it in order to make a nice well to work from.  There may be some relaxer bowls that are too big for the liner.  So use your best judgement as to relaxer bowl size compared to the size of the decorating bag.

Motorcycles and Long Hair Solutions

I had a new client to come in for a long layered hair cut.  She was a White female with "straight hair" but her hair was all tangled up.  She admitted to just completing a motorcycle ride.  After making my best attempt to comb through a section of the tangles, I asked her how does she usually "untangle" her hair.  I did not want to use oil because her hair was fine/medium and oil typically will be harder to shampoo out of her hairtype.

She stated that hot water and Garnier Fructis conditioner releases the tangles.  I do not keep Garnier Fructis in the salon, and I do not like the idea of "hot water," but nonetheless, we worked the tangles out and got her cut and styled.

In the future,  I would recommend to other female bike riders with long hair,  please consider the following
hair accessories:

1) a hair glove
2) a ponytail wrap
3) a barrette sleeve

or 4) just braid it up and band it.

Thick eyebrows equal Thick hair?

I have always maintained thick eyebrows with the exception of the few times that the estheticians "took half of my eyebrows off!"  I had to grow them all the way back in.

I only mention this because your eyebrows can give you some insight about whether your hair is fine, medium, or coarse.   Thinner eyebrows may mean that your hair on top of your head is fine to medium, but it has nothing to do with your hair's density on top.  You can have fine hair, but have a lot of density.

Thicker eyebrows usually signifies a coarseness to the hair.  Also, look at the curl of your eyebrows before you brush them for insight into your curl pattern.

Styling Strips: Wrapp-It and Wrapp-It Jr.

I just purchased Wrapp-it Jr by mistake, but after experimenting with the smaller styling strip, I found it to be more sturdy than the bigger size one.  Even when the "jr. size" is wet, it is still strong and tight around the head.  The larger size seems to collapse easier.

You can obviously tell from the picture that they are two different widths across.

The next good thing is that the Wrapp-It Jr fit nicely in my Sanek Neck strip dispenser.  Yay!  I almost never used neck strips, just clean towels.  So the dispenser will go back into action.  I am excited about my new "Jr" size styling strips.

Create Beach Waves Using Roller clamps

Pictured is the Conairpro Pro Clips.  These type of roller clamps often come with a set of hot rollers.  They can also be purchased separately as you can see by the box pictured here.

This wet set is for long, straight hair. I finger rolled small sections of a human hair wig and clamped them down.  Since you can not sleep in these clamps, a bonnet dryer will be needed.  The results are a beach wave as seen in the picture below.

These clamps also can be used with wire mesh rollers.  Please see my separate article on wire mesh rollers.

These clamps could possibly be used on locks for a wet set.

I used a curling iron along the top fringe area, but  kept the rest of the hair "beach wavy."
