Wig Review: "It's a Wig" brand

"It's A Wig" brand is one of my favorite brands for over the counter purchase. It is definitely the brand that I ask for first! Pictured is me in their synthetic lace front wig. Style: B. Morning. The top picture shows full length. I cut off some of the length in the bottom two pictures.

If you have been following this blog, then you know that I just published a protective styling article. So I did weigh my wig as part of my quest to protect my own hair from the wig being too heavy.

I tucked all the hair in the cap inside out and weighed it on my food scale that I keep in the salon to weigh hair. It weighed over five ounces! I immediately started thinning it out until I got it to just under five ounces.

This wig does have the monofilament in the top! I loved it! The cost was about $40 US Dollars. I did not try on the wig in the store because most wigs with a monofilament give a very natural look. Plus I trust this brand. The lace front is a hard, inexpensive lace-like fiber. Carefully, not to rough up your own hair while wearing.

  1. I agree, this is a natural-looking wig. It looks very nice on you.

  2. Thank you LaQT/Ty! I think it helps that I have a good bit of length to my own hair plus a little afro from my new growth to give the wig a little lift. I think that I want to do a six month stretch of wig wearing to get about another three inches of virgin hair grown out. Since I am not dating anyone seriously, I will not have to sleep pretty. Smile. Being single can have some advantages, and marrying the "right" man can have even more advantanges!

  3. The "lace front" fiber is really, really scratchy and sharp when cut. I had to use some hair bonding glue to coat the edges of this wig. I added the glue and dried it before wearing the wig again. I think the friction of the wig may have caused its rough edges to break some of my hair around my hairline. Luckily, I caught this early. I do not anticipate a huge challenge in the future. I am hoping the glue coating will prevent further breakage.

  4. It's a Wig brand has a "cap weave" in their human hair wig category. I am not fond of it because there were no combs inside of it. No lace front. And over a $100 in cost. The directions warned about using excessive heat. It reminded me of a regular wig. So far, the synthetic B. Morning or B. Singer are the right fit and the right price. (around $40 - the cost of a hairdo that you hold on to for about two weeks. Right?) Unfortunately, the "B. Singer" style is on "back order" - The store has been out of the most popular colors for a few weeks now.

  5. I just discovered that the manufacturer suspended the making of these newer lace front wigs because there was no profit margin left. These wigs were first introduced at a $60 price and sales were slow. Upon dropping the price to a $40 price point, sales were great, but now, this price point is "at cost" to manufacture them. So as you know, if you can not make a profit, then you are not in business . . . I suggest stocking up on whatever inventory that is left in the stores. Something will change in the construction of them before they start offering the newer styles again.
