The "super size" bobby pin next to the jumbo magnetic roller is called a "roller pin." Roller pins can be used at night to secure your wrap. They can also be used for a wet set on rollers.
Of course, bobby pins are handy to anchor hair in place securely. They come in various hair colors: black, brown, gold, silver.
Hair pins are for securing hair into a bun or french roll or a knot in which a soft shaping is needed. Notice the hair pin does not have a closure. They are mainly used for updo hairstyling.
Spin pins (not pictured) have become a topic of interest. More on those at another date . . .
How are using these jumbo pins when doing a wet set? is it better than the double prong clips in anyway? I'm assuming it leaves less roller marks but how is sliding it in and out of wet hair? it seems it would cause alot of damage.. Can you please explain?
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle: Similar to the bobby pin, just open the roller pin wide enough to slide onto the roller wrap and release. You can anchor the roller from both sides if one likes with the roller pin. It is less bulky around the ears if you worry about the "metal all-purpose" clips burning the ears while under the dryer. Of course, if the bulbs come off your roller pin or bobby pin, then you need to dispose of them. Honestly, I use the roller pins mostly to dry wrap clients on a late night when they are planning to go straight home and sleep. I mainly use the clips to wet set, but the roller pins can also be used to secure rollers together. Sometimes clips will go flying when you clip only one side of two rollers together. I mainly run into this situation around the bottom perimeter if I do not want to overload one roller. So roll the hair and use the roller itself to open up the roller pin as you slide it in.
