Type 3 hair with relaxer, color, and extensions

My client just received a fresh relaxer, color refresh (10 min Goldwell semi-permanent), roller set service, some hair extensions sewn in, and a fresh new cut! Hair by Benita Blocker.

My client has a type 3 curl pattern. We relax every 8 weeks on average. We color once a month with 15 vol permanent color. She likes extensions added for thickness and a little length. The sew-in method seems to be the healthiest method for double processed hair. Hair by Benita Blocker.

  1. How would she maintain this look? Could she wrap it every night? Would she have to put heat on it everyday to keep it blended?

  2. Hi Chenoe123: This (married) Client uses medium to large hot rollers daily to reset and blend the curls. She even travels with a small set of hot rollers if she is out meeting customers.

If rolling your hair at night is an option, then I would roll part of your own hair with the extension hair at night with a light mist of leave-in conditioner or heat protection spray. The same method can be used for the hot rollers.

On a separate note, the Goldwell color was a low level demi-permanent color described here. Now, Goldwell has completely changed their Colorance line so I hardly use it anymore except for the demi-permanent formula that is applied to hair while it is dry.

  3. Thank you! What type of rollers for night would you recommend? The Hard Magnetic rollers? Could you use the big Satin Rollers with the clips?

  4. If you can sleep in the magnetic rollers with the clamps, then that would work well to make sure they do not come loose. Satin covered rollers that tie or snap to secure would work too! You just do not want to loose your rollers while you are resting. I am happy to help! Talk to you again soon . . .
